Let’s Talk About Senior Sex Baby Boomers and Beyond
The old ways of doing things don’t work anymore.
Senior sex baby boomers and beyond lets talk. According to Joan Price, (Naked at our age), “We spend our twenties and thirties grounding ourselves, sexually. Then that ground starts to shift in our forties and fifties, and for many of us, a significant landslide begins in our sixties and seventies. Our bodies, sexual responses, and relationships start changing and don’t always work the way they use to.”
Things that we never even thought about when we were in our twenties and thirties are now staring us confusingly in the face.
Senior Sex can still be highly arousing and satisfying.
Sex may not feel or look the way it did when our hormone rush propelled us into jet-stream sex. But according to Price, with excellent communication, self-knowledge, creativity and most importantly a sense of humor we can roll with the changes. Many times, communication breaks down when the old does not work anymore. Most of us do not want to offend their partners, so we tend to avoid that critical conversation. Initial critical discussion: “what do I need from you sexually and what do you need from me?”
As we age, we will begin to experience sensations differently. What felt good in our younger years may no longer feel right. If we do not communicate with our partners, they will keep doing the same thing that they have always done.
Sometimes we don’t even know what works for us anymore.
We have to figure it out all over again what arouses and satisfies us. As we age most of us need much more foreplay, we may be more or less sensitive in the parts we always counted on to arouse us. We may need to introduce or add sex toys to reach orgasms. Price suggests the best way to figure out what works is to experiment with pleasuring ourselves solo.
As long as we can communicate intimately and honestly, says Price, with our partner about what turns us on and what turns us off, we can navigate the many changes and issues we may be dealing with as we age.
